Install Hytale Mods on PC - Client Setup Guide
Install Hytale mods for your singleplayer worlds with this complete guide.
Quick Start: CurseForge App
Section titled “Quick Start: CurseForge App”The easiest way to install mods is with the CurseForge App:
- Download the CurseForge App
- Install and open the app
- Find Hytale in the game menu
- Browse mods and click “Install”
- Click “Play” to launch with your mods
The app handles downloading, file placement, and updates automatically.
Manual Installation
Section titled “Manual Installation”Prefer to manage mods yourself? Follow these steps.
Step 1: Find a Mod
Section titled “Step 1: Find a Mod”- Visit curseforge.com/hytale/mods
- Browse by category or use the search bar
- Filter by type (Packs, Plugins)
What to Look For

Check for Dependencies
Section titled “Check for Dependencies”Some mods require other mods to function. The mod page will list these under “Dependencies” or in the description. Download all required dependencies along with the main mod.
Step 2: Download the Mod
Section titled “Step 2: Download the Mod”- Click on a mod page
- Go to the Files tab
- Click the orange “Download” button
- Save the
.jarfile
Step 3: Install the Mod
Section titled “Step 3: Install the Mod”- Open your Hytale Launcher
- Click the cogwheel icon in the top left corner
- Click “Open Directory”
- Navigate to
UserData/Mods - Move the downloaded
.jarfile into this folder

Step 4: Enable the Mod in Game
Section titled “Step 4: Enable the Mod in Game”- Launch Hytale (or return to main menu if already open)
- Click “Worlds” from the main menu
- Open world settings:
- New world: Click the cogwheel next to the name field
- Existing world: Right-click your world
- Look at the bottom left — your installed mods are listed there
- Tick the mods you want to use
- Launch the world
That’s it! Your mods are now active.
Managing Mods
Section titled “Managing Mods”Multiple Mods
Section titled “Multiple Mods”You can install as many mods as you want:
UserData/└── Mods/ ├── cool-blocks.jar ├── new-creatures.jar └── weather-effects.jarEnable or disable each mod individually in world settings. Some mods may conflict — check mod descriptions for compatibility notes.
Removing Mods
Section titled “Removing Mods”- Delete the
.jarfile fromUserData/Mods - The mod will no longer appear in world settings
World Data
Worlds that used mod content may behave unexpectedly after removing the mod. Keep a backup before removing mods from worlds you care about.
Version Compatibility
Section titled “Version Compatibility”Only install mods made for your Hytale version. Check the mod’s CurseForge page to verify it supports your game version. Mixing versions may cause crashes.

Section titled “Frequently Asked Questions”Where is the Hytale mods folder?
Section titled “Where is the Hytale mods folder?”The mods folder is at UserData/Mods inside your Hytale directory. The easiest way to find it: open the Hytale Launcher, click the cogwheel icon, then “Open Directory”, and navigate to UserData/Mods. Create the folder manually if it doesn’t exist.
How do I enable mods in Hytale?
Section titled “How do I enable mods in Hytale?”After placing mod files in your UserData/Mods folder, go to the main menu and click “Worlds”. Open world settings (cogwheel for new worlds, right-click for existing). Your installed mods appear in the bottom left — tick the ones you want to enable.
Can I use multiple mods at once?

Why isn’t my mod showing up?
Section titled “Why isn’t my mod showing up?”Most commonly, the mod is in the wrong location or has been extracted. Ensure:
- The file is directly in
UserData/Mods(not a subfolder) - The file is a
.jar(not extracted/unzipped) - You’re on the main menu before checking world settings
