  2. Go to the Files tab
  3. Click the orange “Download” button
  4. Save the .jar file
  1. Open your Hytale Launcher
  2. Click the cogwheel icon in the top left corner
  3. Click “Open Directory”
  4. Navigate to UserData/Mods
  5. Move the downloaded .jar file into this folder

  6. Launch the world

That’s it! Your mods are now active.

You can install as many mods as you want:

├── new-creatures.jar
└── weather-effects.jar

Enable or disable each mod individually in world settings. Some mods may conflict — check mod descriptions for compatibility notes.

  1. Delete the .jar file from UserData/Mods
  2. The mod will no longer appear in world settings

World Data

Worlds that used mod content may behave unexpectedly after removing the mod. Keep a backup before removing mods from worlds you care about.

Only install mods made for your Hytale version. Check the mod’s CurseForge page to verify it supports your game version. Mixing versions may cause crashes.

The mods folder is at UserData/Mods inside your Hytale directory. The easiest way to find it: open the Hytale Launcher, click the cogwheel icon, then “Open Directory”, and navigate to UserData/Mods. Create the folder manually if it doesn’t exist.

After placing mod files in your UserData/Mods folder, go to the main menu and click “Worlds”. Open world settings (cogwheel for new worlds, right-click for existing). Your installed mods appear in the bottom left — tick the ones you want to enable.

Yes. Install as many mods as you want in UserData/Mods. Enable or disable each mod individually per world. Some mods may conflict — check mod descriptions for compatibility notes.

Most commonly, the mod is in the wrong location or has been extracted. Ensure:

  • The file is directly in UserData/Mods (not a subfolder)
  • The file is a .jar (not extracted/unzipped)
  • You’re on the main menu before checking world settings
