Hytale Eternal Seeds Guide: How to Find & Craft Them

The complete guide to Eternal Seeds in Hytale. Learn drop rates, crafting recipes, and why Eternal crops are essential for profitable farming.

Eternal Seeds planted in a farm plot with a glowing green light beam

Eternal Seeds are the ultimate goal for any serious farmer in Hytale. Unlike normal seeds that are consumed every time you plant them, Eternal Seeds plant a special crop that regrows indefinitely.

They allow you to build a fully automated farm loop without constantly crafting new seeds. However, they come with a trade-off in yield that you need to understand.

Eternal Seeds are rare, magical variants of standard crop seeds. They have three distinct features:

  1. Infinite Regrowth: You plant them once and they regrow forever. You never need to replant.
  2. No Seed Cost: Since you do not replant, you stop spending Essence on seed crafting.
  3. Different Yields: Eternal crops drop slightly less Essence of Life per harvest compared to normal crops.

There are two ways to obtain these seeds. Most players find their first one by luck, but you can also craft them later in the game.

Every time you harvest a fully grown food or material crop, there is a very small chance it will drop an Eternal Seed for that specific plant.

  • Drop Chance: ~0.5% per harvest
  • Average Rate: 1 seed every 200 harvests

Method 2: Crafting (The Guaranteed Method)

Section titled “Method 2: Crafting (The Guaranteed Method)”

If you have bad luck with drops, you can craft Eternal Seeds at the Farmer’s Workbench. This is expensive and requires a high-level bench.

Requirements: You need a regular seed, a large amount of crops, and Essence of Life.

CropsBench TierMemories LevelCost (approx)
Wheat, Lettuce 2220 Essence + 10 Crops
Carrot, Corn 3330 Essence + 15 Crops
Cauliflower, Turnip 4350 Essence + 25 Crops
Aubergine, Pumpkin 5460 Essence + 30 Crops
Tomato, Chilli 6460 Essence + 30 Crops
Cotton, Rice 7580 Essence + 40 Crops
Potato, Onion 86100 Essence + 50 Crops

Before you convert your whole farm, you should know that Eternal crops yield less Essence of Life per individual harvest than normal crops.

CropNormal YieldEternal Yield
Wheat2 to 41 to 2
Carrot3 to 62 to 3
Tomato6 to 85 to 6
Potato8 to 97 to 8

Eternal seeds exist for all food and material crops.

Available Variants: Wheat, Lettuce, Carrot, Corn, Cauliflower, Turnip, Aubergine, Pumpkin, Tomato, Chilli, Cotton, Rice, Potato, Onion.

Unavailable: There are currently no Eternal variants for petal crops (Blood Rose, Azure Fern, Storm Thistle).

If you only have enough resources to craft a few Eternal Seeds, prioritize these:

Tomato has the fastest regrowth time of any Eternal crop (38 minutes). Because it grows so fast, you can harvest it more often, making it the best source of Essence of Life per hour.

These crops are actually unprofitable to farm with normal seeds because the seeds cost 10 Essence to craft. You need Eternal Seeds to make these crops profitable. Once you have the Eternal version, they become excellent sources of food and Essence.

Cotton is used in many crafting recipes. Having an Eternal Cotton plant ensures you always have a steady supply of fabric without needing to replant.

  • Farm for Drops: Harvest your regular crops often to try and get that 0.5% drop.
  • Don’t Replant: Once you plant an Eternal Seed, leave it there forever.
  • Accept Lower Yields: You get slightly less Essence per harvest, but you save massive amounts of Essence by not crafting seeds.
  • Prioritize Tomato: It is the most efficient crop for farming Essence of Life quickly.
